Appeal of the Head of the SAUEZM on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the Chornobyl accident
Eternal memory for Liquidators and their heroic actions!
The accident at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant was the largest catastrophe in the history of nuclear power engineering. That is why Chornobyl has no past time – it is forever in our hearts and hearts of future generations!
Today, the Exclusion zone has a future, precisely because of the heroic actions of liquidators, who, 33 years ago, risking their own lives saved us from unpredictable radiation exposure.
The history of the consequences of the Chornobyl catastrophe has begun many years ago, continues today and will last for a lot of time ... Thanks to the daily efforts of more than 6,000 professionals, more than 1,000 of whom are involved in the accident elimination since 1986, and with the support of more than 40 countries of the world today, we have a reliable protective structure over the destroyed IV power unit!
This week at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant there was a trial operation of this protective building (NSC), which according to experts’ findings was successful! That means we are moving forward and step by step we can continue to work on the decommissioning of the ChNPP from the operation and transformation of the «Shelter» object into an ecologically safe system, radioactive waste management, exchange of experience with international experts, biodiversity conservation, informing about modern radiation state and radiation safety, as well as the effective use of the Exclusion zone territory.
We bow our heads to everyone who fought in an unequal battle with a terrible nuclear element, as well as a blessed memory to those whose life was cut short as a result of the Chornobyl сatastrophe.
Let’s dream and make every effort to ensure that the affected area of the Exclusion zone has become a territory of human progress and positive changes!
