SAUEZM and the US Forest Service are working on increasing the fire safety in the Exclusion zone
Representatives of the US Forest Service and the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management (SAUEZM) presented a current state of transfer of international technical assistance to SE «Severnaya Pushcha» during a working meeting on increasing the capacity of the Exclusion Zone Fire Rescue Companies in response to a fire, and discussed the priority areas of work that are taking place, with fire prevention measures, and plans for future cooperation.
«Strengthening of fire prevention and preparedness to respond to emergencies in the Exclusion zone is an important aspect of the agency's work. Thanks to the support of the international community, we are introducing new technical solutions in this area that help minimize the risks of large fires and the removal of radionuclides beyond the boundaries of the Exclusion zone», – said Vitaliy Petruk, Head of SAUEZM.
US Forest Service experts have shown readiness to further enhance of fire safety in the Exclusion zone, as well as conducting trainings for the leadership and experts involved in the firefighting.
