Specialists of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management and the enterprises belonging to the sphere of its management, for the second year in a row, study at the Summer Academy of Ecology on the basis of the Bavarian Land Management Department of Environmental Protection.

«Participation in such events is important for the professional development of young specialists in the field of environmental protection. We highly appreciate the opportunity given to our specialists to acquire new knowledge from international experts and encourage them to apply it in the work of the Agency», – Vitalii Petruk, Head of SAUEZM, emphasized.

The lectures of the 11th Summer Academy in 2018 were dealt with the issues of environmental protection, administrative management in Bavaria, environmental law, waste management and experience in implementing the EU Directives in the field of environment.

«The course program turned out to be very intense, and the individual approach to the interests of the participants pleasantly impressed me. With the support of Matthias Worst, the project manager, I was able to get acquainted with the geological laboratory and meet with geologists who are involved in researching sites for the construction of a radioactive waste storage facility in deep geological formations in Bavaria. For Ukraine, the issue of creating such a repository remains open, so the involvement of international experts in this area is extremely valuable to us», – Anastasiia Nechytailo, the participant of the course, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Kyiv city office of the State Enterprise «COTIS», said.

At the end of the two-week course, all participants received the relevant certificates. In November 2018, they will meet with the organizers and graduates of the Summer Academy of recent years in Chernihiv to discuss the organization of future summer academies and the Academy's influence on their professional activities and personal development.
