SSE “Kyiv SISC” received the first batch of equipment for use by emergency response brigades
On July 7, 2017, the first batch of equipment arrived to the State Special Enterprise “Kyiv State Interregional Specialized Combine" (SSE “Kyiv SISC”) of the Ukrainian State Corporation "Radon” (USC “Radon”), within the framework of the project of the international technical assistance of the European Union to Ukraine “Emergency response equipment at specialized enterprises of the State Corporation “Radon” for the purpose of rehabilitation of storage sites for radioactive waste U4.01 / 12BD. Part II”, which, in the future, will be transferred to the specialized combines of the USC "Radon" for use by the emergency response brigades.
Specialists of the equipment manufacturer Canberra Packard Central Europe GmbH (Austria) and the supplier company "LOKMIS" (Lithuania) conducted the training of the members of Emergency Response Brigades of the Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk Interregional Specialized Combines of the USC “Radon” from 10 to 14 July on the territory of the SSE “Kyiv SISC” in order to familiarize them with the equipment and recommendations of the specialists on its use.
During the training program, specialists got acquainted with the theoretical bases of the operation of equipment for indicating and measuring the characteristics of the most common isotopes in radioactive wastes, safety measures when working with these devices and their practical use in field conditions.
