The experts of the SAUEZM enterprises, with the assistance of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, the public association «Association of Chornobyl Tour Operators» and other international travel companies, have presented the tourist potential of the Exclusion Zone at the WTM 2019 World Travel Market in London.

«This year, over 100,000 people have visited the Exclusion zone, which means that interest is growing every day. The task of the Agency and the enterprises of the SAUEZM management sphere is to ensure safe and comfortable access to the Exclusion zone. The exhibition, which takes place in the UK capital, is an important platform for the effective and purposeful presentation of the tourist potential of the Exclusion Zone», - emphasizes a.i. Head of SAUEZM Volodymyr Feshchenko.

According to him, the Decree of the President «On some issues of development of the territories that have been exposed to radioactive contamination as a result of the Chornobyl disaster» set the Agency a number of tasks on creation of effective and transparent mechanisms for tourist organizations and individuals who intend to provide services for organization of visits to the Exclusion Zone, improvement of infrastructure, creation of new routes.

In addition to traditional tourism, the world community is also interested in new forms of visits, such as «scientific tourism». In particular, expeditions to the Chornobyl Reserve, where the unique flora and fauna is revived. After all, today the Reserve is an interesting location for scientists and young researchers studying the impact of ionizing radiation on flora and fauna. Also, the locations of the Reserve will be interesting for ornithologists who want to watch seasonal migrations of birds from the Red Book.

«Young experts of technical specialties can take training courses in radiation and ecological monitoring and characterization of radioactive waste at the base of the SSE «Ecocenter». Operators of nuclear companies have the opportunity to undergo a special training course on radioecology and radioactive waste management», - told Maria Tsybulnyk, Head of Marketing and Development Department of KCR SE «COTIS», and Tamara Danylchenko, an expert for International Cooperation Department.

Experts from the University of Salford, who have been conducting research in the Exclusion zone for many years, helped the Agency to represent the direction of scientific tourism on high quality level.
