Unique routes have been developed for visitors to the Exclusion Zone
The State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management, SE «COTIS», SSE «Ecocenter» and the Association of Chornobyl Tour Operators have jointly developed a unique route using the Ukrainian all-terrain vehicle SHERP.
«The tourist attractiveness of the Exclusion Zone is one of the vectors of the project» Magnet of Ukraine: Chornobyl Exclusion Zone». In Agency is currently working on it with the support of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine and the State Agency of Ukraine for Tourism Development. The development and approval of a new route is another step to promote the Exclusion Zone for visiting», - said Maksym Shevchuk, Deputy Head of SAUEZM.
The route runs through a 30-kilometer Exclusion Zone and includes land and water travel. Before approval of the route, radiation dosimetric control was performed.
According to SSE «Ecocentre» the control levels of possible irradiation are guaranteed not to be exceeded.
«The developed route is unique due to the use of SHERP where you can see amazing locations that have never been demonstrated before. In particular, look at the flooded barges, piers and equipment used by the liquidators after the Chornobyl accident. Now everyone can go through the Zone on kayaks and on ATVs, and see it the other side. An area where unique flora and fauna is revived and an area where the radiation situation is constantly under control. This is an important stage in overcoming the psychological trauma of the whole nation and realizing the huge tourist potential of the state», - said Yaroslav Emelianenko, Head of the Chornobyl Tour Operator Association who initiated the development of the route.
