Within the framework of the international cooperation program, specialists from Tajikistan undergo a full cycle of probation in the Exclusion Zone.
From September 4 till September 28, 2017, within the framework of the Technical Cooperation Program with the IAEA, employees of the State Institution “Radioactive Waste Disposal Point” (SI “RWDP”) from the city of Dushanbe (Tajikistan) are trained in the Central Analytical Laboratory (CAL) of the 2nd class on the characterization of radioactive wastes, which is part of the SSE “Ecocentre”.
At present, Mr. Marufjon Barotov, Chief Engineer of the SI “RWDP”, is being trained, and in two weeks, the director of the institution, Mr. Asliddin Shonazarov, will join him.
The training is carried out by specialists of the SSE “Ecocentre” on the basis of the CAL according to a self-developed program. The training includes a full cycle of works performed by the SSE “Ecocentre”, including sampling, spectrometric and radiometric measurements, and processing of results.
The trainee qualification allows them to be accessed to the radiochemical selection of some isotopes.
In lectures, which are scheduled for more than 10 hours, specialists will consider not only generalized topics of radiation and ecological monitoring and characterization of radioactive waste, but also such aspects as internal laboratory monitoring of the quality of measurements, intercalibration, recommendations for conducting certain types of measurements and preliminary processing of samples, rules of recording and measuring records that are important for newly created laboratories.
The first week of classes is dedicated to getting acquainted with laboratory work and sampling.
