SAUEZM has started the process of transferring the main roads in the Exclusion Zone to the balance of «Ukravtodor»

The State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management and the State Specialized Enterprise «Central Enterprise for Radioactive Waste Management» have started the process of transferring the main roads to the balance of the Road Service in Kyiv region.

It is planned that about 200 km of roads will be transferred to the balance, connecting popular tourist locations, providing support for environmental activities in areas affected by radioactive contamination due to the Chornobyl disaster, and promoting the brand message «Safe Chornobyl», which is enshrined in the Presidential Decree «Some issues of development of territories that were exposed to radioactive contamination as a result of the Chornobyl catastrophe».

«Quality roads are one of the conditions for the effective implementation of the tasks facing the Agency and its management. In particular, it is to ensure radiation safety and control of radiation and environmental conditions in the Exclusion Zone. The decision to transfer is prudent and reasonable, because each body must be responsible for its area of work, and highways – the responsibility of Ukravtodor, because no one can know better than them the technologies, processes and mechanisms of construction and maintenance of roads», – said Serhiy Kalashnyk.

Field meetings have already been held with the participation of representatives of SAUEZM, SSE «CERWM» and the Road Service of Kyiv region to conduct a survey and determine the priority of repair of road sections to be transferred.
